i realize i'm about 5 years behind the rest of my peers doing this, but i finally have my own domain *drumroll* ......
it is...... http://bethgo.com yay!
i don't have a good explanation for why it took so long to do so, however the last three days of getting this all up and running has impressed upon me that self hosting your own blog/website is still not for the average joe and jane consumer.
am i excited to have all sorts of flexibility and control? yes!
do i look forward to munging up my blog as i learn what the hell i'm doing? of course!
am i at all envious of the folks who sucked down years of html knowledge the last 10 years? *nods emphatically*
i have to say it; i feel the same sense of endless possiblity that i did when i left aol in 1994 to journey forth onto the wall-less world wide web. yippee!!

dmitri says it much better. i'm looking at 20 days = 480 hours. that said i still get a least two to three runs in a week. i work a steady 40-50 hours, and i manage to remember to feed the dog. not bad. not bad at all.

update
many folks have asked how i've been and what i've been doing, so it seems like an update post is in order.
the quick and dirty version:
weight lost: 55 lbs
new puppy is now almost a dog!
went to star wars galaxies fan fest in june (i'm officially a nerd now)
i love my new job (program manager/business development for microsoft learning)
i can run 3 miles in less than 30 minutes
i'm a yellow according to insights
traffic is still horrible
my latest gadget is the hp h6315
starting to write about gaming
the longer version is that i'm currently incubating on what is likely to be my next full-time endeavour. unfortunately i do not know what that is. what i do know is i miss seeing and talking with people from around the world on subjects that i feel passionate about. a nice spell of hibernation has done its work, but i'm looking to get out there and shake it up a bit. thinking about writing a book. as soon as i do you'll probably be the first to know. as always my virtual door is open if you want to talk with me. feel free to use my ms addy: bethg @ microsoft.com or my gmail addy bethgo @ gmail.com

spotted.
love what dave is doing with his spot watch.
in a desperate attempt to feel like a woman with many friends i logged in to im as "beth (send a message to my watch)" this week. received some love. felt good.
5/3/2004 12:28 PM pt (9 mph) spot watches are cool, it's all about pre and post customer education in my opinion.
5/3/2004 12:39 PM Peter Hey, blog slacker! :-) Trying to get past your 100-message monthly limit on MSN Direct?

blog intervention.
i need help. i think of things i want to write about every day. all day long i'm mind blogging, but it never translates into action. realistically i know i'll never be a scoble, or a doc, or a halley, but 3-4 posts a month is downright embarrassing.
do any of you regular bloggers have advice for how a once not so much, now very much so busy person (dog, exercise, new job, etc) can get back into the rhythm of regular blogging? all advice accepted here: bethg @ microsoft . com
